Eddie Roxy is a singer, songwriter and journalist with roots from the foundation of punk. Like many others, as an early teenager his first love was glam rock but as it fizzled out in 76 the light of the punk rock torch was lit.

The spirit of the age was to grab a guitar, form a band, and get a gig….so Eddie did just that coercing three school friends to stop playing metal covers and join his new band. Within a month they had blagged a support slot for Eater and then a night at the famous Roxy Club. Next up was a chance meeting with Vaughn Toulouse at London’s Studio 21 where he was invited to join a band which was either to be called The Cygnet Committee or Department S, taking up the offer the next day found Eddie installed as the keyboard player for the group which included Bananarama as backing singers,  Is Vic There? was released soon afterwards and the rest is history.

Leaving the band after being offered a three-album deal on Red Bus Records for a new group, Dream Sequence featuring Eddie on vocals,  saw the release of Outside Looking In which became a minor hit in Europe but did nothing in the UK. With the classic issues of the label not supporting the band……Mr Roxy took up an offer to join one of the UK’s biggest advertising agencies to fund the next project but his career took off and he left music behind.

Or so he thought, over an extra bottle of red wine in a Soho restaurant with Department S founder Mike Herbage the boys decided to “get the band back together again” with Eddie on vocals as Vaughn had sadly been a victim of AIDS in the 90s. This ended up being a ride that lasted from 2008 until 2022 taking in appearances across UK and Europe including festival dates at Glastonbury, Rewind, Benicassim, Rebellion, Green Man and Sinners Day…as well as three new albums and a new track used on a TV commercial.

After 14 years Eddie decided his part of this journey had run its course and left the band to form a new unit, there is an album currently being made and live appearances will start early in 2023.
